Crossword puzzle 1 6 Create a blog

I will be handing out crossword puzzle 1-6 - it is a review of all words on lists 1 through 6 and is due Friday.  As usual, if you get it done before Friday you are welcome to turn it in early.

Today we are going to begin creating your blog.  We will need to go to Bloggers website - www.blogger.com.  This is going to allow you to be creative to a certain degree, and we will also have some assignments that will be required to be posted to your blog.  Since we are doing this at school you will have a few rules you will have to follow:

• Your blog will need to be school appropriate at all times
• There will be no games on your blog
• You will open your blog (or be on your blog) ONLY when you are told to.  You will not be on your blog during class changing designs or posting information (or for any other reason) without permission
• You are responsible for EVERYTHING that is on your blog, so be careful with what you do
• Once the semester is over you can do with your blog what you want.  You are the owner/creator, so you have full power to use it as you wish (continue to use it for whatever purpose or completely delete the blog)

Learning to create a bulleted and numbered list FA7

Today I am going to show you how you can use Word to create a bulleted list and a numbered list.  Usually, a numbered list is created to show rank (such as your favorite athlete, second favorite athlete, and so on) while a bulleted list is used to show a list that has no rank (a shopping list would be an example).  These are fairly easy to create, modify, and format so Ill show you how you can do that today before starting on your next Formatting Activity.

Again, I want to remind those of you who have vocabulary words to define to get those completed as soon as you can.  If you want to come in here before school or during lunch recess to do that you are welcome - just let me know.

Vocab quiz 5 create a blog

Today we will be taking vocab quiz #5.

After taking the quiz everyone will be creating a blog at Blogger.  This is the same host site that I have used to create the class blog.  The sign up process will be simple because Blogger is a "sister" site to Google - you can use your Google account to log into your Blogger blog.

We will take some time today to create your blog - if we have time available we will be embedding your videos onto your blog.  At some point (either today or Monday) you will be sending me an email with a link to your blog so I can view your video(s) and grade them.

Classmarker account create a Google doc with passwords review all keys learned

Today we are going to check to make sure your Classmarker account works (this is the online website we will go tomorrow to take the vocab quiz).  I will give you your username and passwords so you can gain access.

Next we will create a new Google document that will hold all of your usernames and passwords - this way you will have 24/7 access to the usernames and passwords and you wont have to memorize them or carry around papers to help you remember what they are.

After we get that accomplished we will review all of the keys weve learned so far.

How to Create Keyboard Shortcuts to open programs

You can create keyboard shortcuts to open programs. Opening programs this way is often simpler than opening them using your mouse or other pointing device. Before you get started, you need to create a shortcut for the program to which you want to assign a keyboard shortcut. To do this, open the folder that contains the program, right-click the programs executable file, and then click Create Shortcut. For more information about creating shortcuts to programs, see Create or delete a shortcut.

1. Locate the shortcut to the program that you want to create a keyboard shortcut for.
2. Right-click the shortcut, and then click Properties.
3. In the Shortcut Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab.
4. Click in the Shortcut key box, press the key on your keyboard that you want to use in combination with Ctrl+Alt (keyboard shortcuts automatically start with Ctrl+Alt), and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
   You can now use this keyboard shortcut to open the program.

Notes

• The word None appears in the Shortcut key box until you press a key; then its replaced with Ctrl+Alt+the key that you pressed.

• The new shortcut might not work for programs that have their own keyboard shortcuts.

• You cannot use the Esc, Enter, Tab, Spacebar, PrtScn, Shift, or Backspace keys to create a keyboard shortcut.

• You can also create keyboard shortcuts to open files and folders.

Ever tried to create a folder "CON" or "AUX" or "NUL".

Tried now???  - not working :)

Here you go, a simple method to  stop your anxiety

Rename folder from the right click option........
Now press alt and press 255...
press 255 frm the right side of the key bords i.e, Num pad.
where only numbers are given.....
now write con and then press enter.....yayyy!!
you ll see a con folder in ur pc
and also you can delete it easily.

BOOTABLE PEN DRIVE

I still remembered few months back, a friend of mine asked me to repair her Windows. The problem was her CD-ROM was not functioning. Therefore, I couldn’t boot from the Windows XP bootable CD. I did think about copying the file from the XP cd to my pen drive  and boot from my USB Pen drive. But how can I booted from my  USB pen drive  when the  pen drive  itself was not bootable ? That’s a few months old story. 

If today my friend comes again to me with the same problem, I will be happy to help because now I know how to make USB pen drive bootable.  Make bootable  is a freeware application that turns your USB pen drives into a bootable media with just a single click.  This nifty utility makes your pen drive to be bootable without erasing any data in the USB device.

MakeBootable consists of a single executable file and requires no installation. To use MakeBootable, run the MakeBootable executable file. On the main window, select the USB device you wish to make bootable. Click on the “Make Bootable” button to begin the process. The program will load several files required for boot up into your device.

Next, you need to change the boot-up setting in the system BIOS. With your USB device still plugged, restart your system. Enter the BIOS setup menu and change the boot device setting. Select USB Device as First Boot device in the boot device priority. If the boot-up files are created in the USB drive, select USB-HDD or USB-ZIP (preferred). If the boot-up files are created in the floppy drive of your device, select USB-FDD (for pen drive that supports security mode).

Once done, save and exit the BIOS setup. Now, you should be able to boot up with your USB device.

MakeBootable run perfectly on Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.

Note : Before running MakeBootable, if your USB pen drive is under FAT32 and NTFS file system format, you need to convert the format to FAT. MakeBootable does not support FAT32 and NTFS file systems.

Create A New User Account

Windows XP includes a new simple account management applet called User Accounts. This applet is a new approach to user management that replaces the Windows 2000 style user list with a nice-looking wizard approach. Follow these steps to remove passwords with the new management applet:

1. Launch the new applet by clicking the Start Menu and then selecting Run.

2. Key in nusrmgr.cpl and click the OK button. The applet will now launch.

3. Use your mouse to click the account from which you want to remove the password.

4. Next, click the text that says Remove the password.

5. After clicking the text, you will be taken to a confirmation screen, where you will be required to type in the password of the user. Type in the password and then click the Remove Password button.

Thats it! The password is now removed for the user that you selected. Repeat the previous steps for any other accounts for which you would like to remove the password.

If for any reason you change you mind and want to put a password back on a users account, just go back into the User Accounts applet and click the user you would like to change. Then, instead of showing Remove My Password, the applet will show, Create a password. Click the Create text and enter the new password in the two text boxes and then click the Create Password button.
